An O-ring, also known as a filler, or compound surface joint, is a mechanical seal pad in a shape ring; it is an elastic ring with a circular cross-section designed to be placed in a groove and compressed between two or more parts during assembly, thus forming a seal at the interface.
O-rings can be used in static applications or in dynamic applications where there is relative motion between parts and O-rings. Dynamic examples include rotating pump shafts and hydraulic cylinder pistons.
O-rings are one of the most commonly used seals in mechanical design because they are cheap, easy to manufacture, reliable and easy to install. They can seal tens of megapa (kilo psi) of pressure.
Function of Rubber O-Ring
O-rings are used in sanitary piping systems in automotive, machinery, food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Rubber Fab offers a full range of AS568 dashes, metric and special O-ring sizes manufactured using EPDM, NBR, FKM fluorinated elastomers, Buna-N, PTFE, silicone, etc. O-rings for cylinders, pumps, railway cars, trucks, washing machines, instruments, mining equipment, pipelines, household appliances, automobiles, steamships, industrial electrical equipment, building doors and windows, construction machinery, bridges and tunnels.
1. Mechanical seals, pressure vessels, gas compressors, reaction vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, filters, etc.
2. It can be widely used in various electronic products, such as cameras, mobile phones, printers and computers.
3. Used in automobile doors and windows.
4. Screen printing, spraying, laser etching, backlighting, hard/epoxy coated keyboard.
